Casting a Wide Net
We were honored to meet educators, attorneys, chefs and food bloggers, students, medical professionals, actors, entrepreneurs, artists, swordsmen, writers, photographers, weavers, and designers. We met riflemen and musicians. Whole families came up and were transformed as they stepped into the 18th century with us in mind and in dress. Little girls frolicked and twirled in blissful circles around their kind mother while their father marched with the militia. It was spectacular!
The awesome folks who made the trip to scenic Oak Glen on that hot July day made quite an impression. They were happy to volunteer for the project and supportive of our effort to honor American history by creating quality historical drama. They recruited friends and colleagues, and had fun with the entire experience. They took the heat in stride, and made new friends between takes. Savoring the sight of them in action made me wish the day didn’t have to end.
To my delight, some of them came back to the farm for the filming of the new reality show Life of Riley (streaming now on ColonyBay.TV) and a strong number will even be joining us this summer when we bring a colonial village to life for Colonial Faire every Saturday in July. The village is growing and a revolution is brewing. Visit the Glen and celebrate history with us this Independence Day. Huzzah!
