A Farm is Worth A Million Words
But the real moment for many is the end of the day, and our farewell speech. Countless adults have approached us, some with tears in their eyes, grinning from ear to ear, offering a double-handed handshake and here’s how that conversation typically goes,
“Oh my gosh. I LOVED this! You guys are fantastic! I never heard of you guys until today, but I will DEFINITELY be back. This is by far the best field trip I’ve ever been on. “
“Well, thank you! We’re glad you enjoyed it. That’s music to our ears.”
“…And they really need to hear what you guys say. Thank you for saying it!”
It’s a very humbling thing to be told all of that, especially when you’re just a part of it all.
I’m always happy to elaborate about our feasts, plays, and farm fresh fruit as long as people will listen.
I know I run the risk of some thinking it’s all a big shameless plug, but that’s only half accurate. It’s a plug, I suppose, if you want to dub it that, but there is no shame in it for me. Not one bit. I love what we do up here on the farm. So much so, that I’ve made a career of it.
I could tell you about the joy I take in the scenery, the people, the food, the adrenaline of addressing huge crowds, hearing their thunderous approval… and the thoroughly American experience we provide, but it is just too much for words.
As I said, this is the hardest job to explain. Either because you haven’t been here, and won’t understand the magic, or because you have, and you don’t need any more elaboration. Either way, come on up and see it again, or for the first time. We love our guests, and we’ll let our farm do the rest of the talking.
