Tavern & Bakery

Join us for an enchanting meal in 18th Century Colonial Public House or Bakery.

The Hawk’s Head

The restaurant business has always been very difficult in California, but with
Governor Newsom’s draconian Covid policy, it’s impossible.  We continue to sell lunch
and bakery items from our takeout windows, but sit-down service is suspended until
state policy makers come to their senses.

Dear Guests, we invite you to join us for a bite and enjoy historical settings, live music, and beautiful surrounding orchards of Oak Glen. We offer a menu inspired by the comforts of early colonial America and a selection of ales, wines, and ciders for your leisure. Our Bakery provides renowned pastries made from scratch and can be ordered with your server for you to share with family and friends.

Our Restaurant is built with original tongue and groove technique and the interior is modeled from colonial taverns of old. With a roaring fire and live acoustic music on the weekends, and expansive and beautiful grounds to walk, we hope you will spend a day with us and explore a piece of the past almost forgotten.

Why it pays to order ahead…  Believe it or not, it takes a lot of work to make an honest apple pie.  We only make as many as we think we’re going to sell, and if you arrive too late, we might not have any!     You know you’ll be visiting Oak Glen soon.   Why not put your name on a pie ahead of time?

Online Bakery orders must be placed at least one day prior to your pickup date. Remember to check the current COLONIAL CHESTERFIELD BAKERY hours before selecting a pick-up date & time (and note that we are always closed on Sundays).  Pick up your order at the bakery in Colonial Chesterfield (pictured below) unless you are attending a field trip at the Packing Shed location.
