The events we normally hold here are planned out MONTHS in advance, marketed MONTHS in advance, and have the advantage of a track record. This event had limited planning, volunteer participants, and it was threatened, last minute, by weather. If, however, you’ll forgive me, it felt divinely protected. We wondered whether a crazy or two might show up, but we had lots of retired law enforcement on hand, and the Rileys are heavily armed. I had the strong feeling that Charlie’s life was about conversation, discussion, seeking truth — and WE CAN’T LET THE ENEMY TAKE THAT AWAY FROM US.
“The wicked flee when no man pursues, but the righteous are bold as a lion.”
God bless you, Charlie. You have inspired millions of young people to follow your path.
September 21, 11:55 AM: Given these conditions, I don’t think the fire department would object to candles. Bring them if you have them.
September 21, 11:43 AM: We’re expecting light rain at the beginning of the event. Umbrellas and easy-ups if you have them.
September 21, 9:55 AM: We’re keeping an eye on the weather. While there are no advisories or warnings, they are predicting 40% chance of precipitation through 4 PM and clearing after that.
September 21, 6:05 AM: Programs printed.
September 20, 6:42 PM: Today’s update..
The response to a Charlie Kirk Prayer & Song Vigil has been massive, but we ask everyone to remember, this is a volunteer operation and we are closed on Sundays normally, so…
Bring snack food, flashlights, warm clothing, CAMP CHAIRS, and consider early arrival if there is a huge response, since we will have to close down the parking lots if they fill up.
**IF anyone has access to large format printing, we could use some posters of Charlie and his family**
So far, we have Calvary Chapel of Chino Hills and the ARK church of Redlands participating, on the pastoral side. We will have congregational singing led by the worship leader at St. John’s Lutheran and Tina Skousen will be singing the national anthem and “Battle Hymn of the Republic.” Be prepared to sing yourself. You can see our hymn list at the link.
If you want to help, show up at 3:30 PM. The event begins at 5:45 PM. We could use a lot of parking lot help. We do have a security team, but keep in mind: the violent CRAZIES want us to forfeit freedom of expression and assembly. Don’t let them win.
Keep watching the link updates..
“The wicked flee when no man pursues, but the righteous are bold as a lion.”
September 19, 1:30 PM: Sarah Hagar of St. John’s Lutheran has agreed to lead the congregational singing. Yay!
September 19, 11:38 AM: Shadrach Means of Calvary Chapel Chino Hills has agreed to pray with us and say a few words!
September 19, 10:46 AM: The poor fellow who had volunteered to lead congregational gospel singing has been evacuated from Forest Falls due to the floods. WE NEED SOMEONE WHO CAN LEAD A FEW HYMNS..
September 19, 9:59 AM: We have our sing-along hymns. We may consider additions to this list.
Leaning on the Everlasting Arms
Praise to the Lord, the Almighty, the King of Creation
Amazing Grace
Abide With Me
September 18, 6:09 PM: We didn’t suffer any damage from today’s storm on the eastern side of Oak Glen, (Riley’s Farm, Riley’s at Los Rios, Wilshire’s Packing Shed). In our area, the Little San Gorgonio Creek on the west side of Oak Glen Road rose very high but did not breach its banks or the K-rails placed to contain it. Our little stream near the tavern, though muddied, didn’t rise above its normal level. The other side of Oak Glen appears to have suffered quite a bit along Potato Canyon Road. We don’t know how long it will take to clear entrance from the Yucaipa side of Oak Glen, but the Beaumont side remains open and we intend to be open for business this week — and for the Charlie Kirk prayer & song vigil on Sunday.
September 18, 2:46 PM: Pastor Kevin O’Connor of ARK Church in Redlands signed on to say opening prayer. Olin Richey of Calimesa Worship Center will be leading the congregational singing. In other news, our social media has been exploding, (the Facebook and Instagram posts have been seen over 400,00 times). This means WE HAVE NO IDEA HOW MANY PEOPLE MIGHT ATTEND. Be here early if you’re counting on it, because we would have to close down parking if we’re full.
September 18, 1:53 PM: We will likely need about 10 volunteers to supervise parking during the event. If you are available, we will need to meet at 4PM to go over our layout, distribute radios, and set a break schedule. Please email us if you can help
