APPLES
The Lower Monster with the Senshu Apples will be open. The Senshu’s are best when the red is prevalent. Please remember the Rome Beauties are NOT ready yet, even though they are red in color. We will tag to help the customers identify the correct trees to pick.
The Upper Monster are at the end of the Gala’s that are available.
The Select Varieties is where our customers can come and select the different varieties that are from trees that are very difficult to get to, or in orchards that are closed, but may have a few trees here and there in them that are ripe. The customers last Saturday really enjoyed perusing the multiple varieties and appreciated their ability to mix and match with ease – trying out an apple or two from each of the different heirlooms, as well as some of the “old standards”. For this weekend, in the Tent, we will be offering the following:
Cornish Gillyflower (so sweet!)
Crab Apple
Ozark Gold
Jonathan
Black Gillyflower (similar to Cornish Gillyflower, but smaller)
Standard Delicious
Golden Delicious
Gala (from Grandma’s Orchard)
Glen Seedling
PEARS
The pears continue to be ready in the circle orchard. If we close the Upper Monster, perhaps opening up another pear orchard would be helpful. If the apple orchards are both staffed, then bringing some pears to the select varieties area should suffice.
BERRIES
Cooler temperatures are slowing berry production significantly.
Raspberries
VERY light. If we have customers in to pick in the morning, then pint baskets only and PLEASE check availability as the morning progresses in case we run out (which is a probability given having such a light crop)
Strawberries
Same as the Raspberries. VERY light. If we have customers in to pick in the morning, then pint baskets only and PLEASE check availability as the morning progresses in case we run out (which is a probability given having such a light crop)
Blackberries:
CLOSED. We have a good size up and coming crop – but they are definitely not ready.
FLOWERS
Sensational on both zinnia’s and sunflowers
PUMPKINS
Beautiful, gorgeous and such a variety! White, Cinderella’s and Jack O Lanterns are all ready.
